Welcome to the Learning Garden

The Learning Garden is a private nonprofit preschool, offering developmentally appropriate programs for children agaes 3-6 years as well as extended day programs. We're open Monday - Friday from 8 am - 5pm servicing the Lower Cape towns of Orleans, Eastham, Brewster, Chatham, Harwich. We are licensed by Early Education and Care and we are proud of our student-teacher ratios in all our programs. We support children and their families by developing confidence, respect, and trust in a nurturing environment. Our school is located on a 2 acre parcel of land in Orleans and was establishd in 1983 with sunny cheerful classrooms and a large well equipped playground.

This program places emphasis on all the skills necessary for Kindergarten readiness. Daily activities focus on the development of language, cognitive, emotional, social, motor, and self help skills.  Emphasis is also placed on developing a positive self image and the ablity to participate in large group activities.

Childcare Program

The Childcare program is designed to be flexible enough to meet the needs of both children and parents. This program is supervised by a Lead Teacher with additional staffing as necessary. The hours for the childcare program are 8-9am for anyone attending a morning program at The Learning Garden. Hours for the afternoon Childcare program are 12 noon to 5 pm or any part thereof by pre-arrangement. This program is available to children 2 years 9 months to 6 years who have attended a morning program any day of the week provided space and staffing are available.

SILENT AUCTION FUNDRAISER

The Learning Garden is holding its annual Fundraiser at Cranberry Valley Golf Course on Thursday, May 15th from 6:00-9:00pm.  We are having a “Derby” theme so we hope many of you will “gallop” over to Cranberry Valley to support our wonderful cause!!  All proceeds directly benefit our Financial Assistance Fund.  We want to thank Ian and Toni Philbrick for their generosity in donating this pretty spot and the complimentary hors d’oeuvres. Save the date, invite your family and friends, and plan to join us to make this a really fun and successful event.  There will be games, prizes and awesome auction items!!!

April Vacation

The Learning Garden will be closed  the week of April 21-25 in observance of Patriots Day/School Vacation Week.  Good luck to Shelly Waite who is running in her second Boston Marathon on Monday, April 21 and to all the wonderful people running this year!!

Brenda Halliday graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo with a BS in Elementary Education and Special Needs. She is Massachusetts Lead Teacher and Director certified and has been teaching preschool since 1977...
